Powerless Jesus

Did you know Jesus lived as a powerless human being just like us?

“Although He existed in the form of God, (He) did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men” (Philippians 2:6-7).

“I can of own self do nothing” (John 5:30). – Jesus never operated “Independent” of The Father.

“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works” (John 14:10). – It was the Father, Himself, “In” Jesus doing the works!

This is exactly how we are called to operate. The Apostle Paul said, “by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, YET NOT I, but the grace of God with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). “”It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…” (Galatians 2:20). “For me to live is Christ…” (Philippians 1:21).

We were designed to be operated by the Holy Spirit of God. Therefore we are to walk as Jesus walked. How did He walk you might ask? Great question! He walked in complete dependence upon His Father, and ours.

“Because as He is, so also are we in this world” (1 John 4:17).

Jesus is God’s Plan

“by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).

By God’s doing you are “IN” Christ Jesus.

Christ Jesus “IS’ wisdom from God.
Christ Jesus “IS” righteousness.
Christ Jesus “IS” sanctification.
Christ Jesus “IS” redemption.

Did you catch how it says Jesus “IS” all these things rather than “GIVES” all these things?

We have come a long way when we discover that Jesus, the Person, is what we have rather than simply some “things” He’s given “TO” us.

“He that is joined to the Lord is one Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17).

If you’re One with Him you have all that He has!

God has placed all His hopes and plans in His Son Jesus Christ so if you have Him, you have everything you could possibly need!

“For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority” (Colossians 2:9-10).

About this blog

I have decided not to renew our “louieandtracey”domain name for this blog. I don’t know if that means we will no longer have a blog at all or if it will resort back to the free WordPress version. I’m okay either way. I just thought I would let you know in case you look and can’t find us in the next few weeks. We have enjoyed posting here and thank all who have commented and participated along the way.

God bless,

Louie and Tracey

What are You Believing?

If you’re claiming to be a “Christian” and yet nothing in your life has changed, let me ask you a question. Did you believe in a man named Jesus who lived over 2000 years ago, a historical man? The man who taught others to love each other and died on the cross? Or are you trusting in the Jesus who was raised from the dead, who is Lord and is alive today? The One who offers to come and live inside of you and give His very own life to you?

I think there are many who think being a Christian is simply believing in a list of historical facts rather than the actual, literal Spirit of God joining Himself to their spirit. Christianity isn’t simply believing in a set of facts, it’s being joined to God by way of the Cross and the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

Being a Christian isn’t following a set of laws, rules, rituals or traditions. Being a Christian means you died and Christ is now your life! Your “life” is now hidden with Christ “in” God. We don’t have an independent life of our own in order to go around “Trying” to do better!

There’s only been one who lived the “Christian” life and that’s Christ Himself. Being a “Christian” means letting Him be Himself in you, through you and as you to the rest of the world.

It’s “His” fruit being produced in “Your” life!

Joined to Him you become the visible expression of the invisible God!

Dead to Sin and Alive to God

Sin isn’t something to be managed. In fact, “the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The only way to be “Freed” from sin is to die. Thankfully, God provided a way for us to die and yet live! He crucified us, buried us and raised us back with Christ (Romans 6:3-14, Galatians 2:20).

“for he who has died is freed from sin” (Romans 6:7).

So, stop trying to do “Better!” or “Improve” yourself, and start counting yourself as having died to sin, been raised to walk in new life and begin offering yourself to God as one alive from the dead! (Romans 6:11-13).

For those who are “IN” Christ are, right now, a new creation! (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The only thing we are to do is “BELIEVE” what God has done through the Cross! Once you really believe He has done enough, you will begin to rest in Him and fruit will appear, fruit that will remain! (Hebrews 4:9-11& John 15:1-8).
